All additional awards together are capped at 600. A provincial nomination therefore fills the complete additional-points section even if another factor would otherwise qualify.
Provincial nomination
A nomination under an Express Entry-aligned provincial or territorial program adds 600 points. This is distinct from merely being interested in a province or meeting a stream’s basic requirements.
French-language points
You need at least NCLC 7 in each of reading, writing, speaking and listening. The English result determines whether the additional award is 25 or 50. French may also contribute core second-language points separately.
Sibling points
The sibling must be at least 18, live in Canada, and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. IRCC’s relationship rules extend beyond only a full biological sibling, so verify the definition when the relationship involves half-, step- or in-law family connections.
IRCC removed the former 50- and 200-point awards on March 25, 2025. A valid offer may still affect eligibility for certain programs, but it must not be added to the current CRS total.
Canadian education points require more than a credential name
IRCC applies conditions concerning the institution, study duration and how the study was completed. Confirm those conditions on Canada.ca before selecting the bonus.
