Start with the correct question

A CRS score ranks eligible Express Entry candidates; it does not determine eligibility by itself. First confirm that you qualify for one of the programs managed through Express Entry, then assess how competitive your CRS score may be.

The Express Entry path from Pakistan

  1. Check program eligibility. Express Entry manages the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
  2. Complete an approved language test. For English, IRCC accepts IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core. French options are TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
  3. Get an ECA for foreign education. A Pakistani degree normally needs an Educational Credential Assessment to support Federal Skilled Worker eligibility or claim education points.
  4. Calculate your CRS score. Age, education, official languages, experience, spouse factors and additional factors determine the score.
  5. Create an IRCC profile. Eligible profiles enter the pool. Entering the pool does not guarantee an invitation.
  6. Apply only after an invitation. If invited, upload the personalized documents, pay the fees and submit within the deadline shown by IRCC.

Pakistan-specific planning checklist

Language
Book the exact test version IRCC accepts. IELTS Academic and IELTS One Skill Retake are not accepted for Express Entry.
Education
Follow the document instructions from your chosen IRCC-designated ECA organization. Do not assume the name of a Pakistani credential equals a particular Canadian equivalency.
Work history
Prepare evidence that supports dates, hours, salary and duties. Select the NOC that matches what you actually did, not merely your job title.
Funds
Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants generally need settlement funds unless an exemption applies. The money must be available and not borrowed.
Biometrics
IRCC lists visa application centres in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. Wait for the biometric instruction letter and book through the official VAC route.

Avoid common mistakes

  • Do not pay anyone who promises an invitation, guaranteed PR or a guaranteed job.
  • Do not add job-offer CRS points: IRCC removed those points on March 25, 2025.
  • Do not convert Pakistani qualifications based on informal online comparisons; use the ECA result.
  • Do not convert CAD costs to PKR once and treat that number as permanent. Exchange rates and third-party charges change.
  • Do not submit inconsistent dates or duties across your profile and supporting documents.
